All People Seek Pleasure. |
| |
All mankind has one thing in common - we all are searching for satisfaction.
Our entire life is devoted to the pursuit of that which pleases us most. The problem we encounter, however,
is that we are far too easily bored with that which once brought us pleasure. So we jump from one thing to the next
and the search goes on.
|
| |
You Should Pursue that Which Brings the Most Satisfaction. |
| |
Our message to you is that you should pursue that which pleases you most. And we firmly believe that God alone
can satisfy every longing of your searching soul. He is the most pleasing reality.
The Bible uses the metaphor of drinking from a well that quenches every thirst. "LO! Everyone who thirsts, come to
the waters...and let your soul delight itself in abundance." (Isaiah 55:1,2)
|
| |
All People Seek Satisfaction in Things Other Than God. |
| |
The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." What does it mean
to "fall short of the glory of God?" It means we have sought our satisfaction in other things, and treated them
as more valuable than God. This is an appalling offense to the greatness of God.
|
| |
All People are Subject to God's Wrath. |
| |
"The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). We have all belittled the glory of God by preferring
other things above him. So God is just in shutting us out from the enjoyment of his glory forever.
|
| |
Jesus Christ Died To Reconcile Us To God. |
| |
"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18).
Coming home to God is where all deep and lasting satisfaction is found.
|
| |
True Satisfaction Belongs To Those Who Turn and Trust Christ. |
| |
"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (Acts 3:19). "Believe in the Lord
Jesus and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).
"Repent" means to turn from all the deceitful promises of sin. "To believe" means supremely treasuring God's Word
and Work in your life.
"He who believes in me," Jesus says, "shall never thirst"(John 6:35). We do not earn our salvation.
We cannot merit it. It is by grace through faith. It is a free gift. We will have it if we cherish it above all things.
When we do that, God's aim in creation is accomplished: He is glorified in us and we are satisfied in him - forever.
